Salvage Works Job Description

Job Title: Material Processor/Driver

Reports to: Retail Manager

Position Summary:

The material processor/driver works for the Retail Manager processing lumber and picking up and delivering material to and from vendors, subcontractors and customers. The material processor/driver works in the warehouse and yard with the material to make ready for sale. The material processor is responsible for denailing, counting and racking material for sale and preparing material for milling. The material processor may assist in customer service as needed including loading material into customer vehicles.  Material processing is approximately 80% of the job while driving is approximately 20% of the job.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Material Handling

    • Material intake

    • Denail material for sale

    • Wand, denail and cut material for milling using a mitre and table saw

    • Count material as directed for purchase

    • Rack processed material as directed by the Retail Manager

    • Maintain a safe, tidy and shoppable yard

    • Secure and protect materials, tools and equipment

  • Retail assistance as needed

    • Customer service

    • Cutting material, loading purchases

  • Driving

    • Material pick up from vendors or subcontractors

    • Material delivery to subcontractors or customers

    • Managing vehicle maintenance

Skills, Experience and Education Requirements:

  • One year construction experience.

  • Experience driving a tow behind trailer.

  • Customer service skills.

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.

  • Valid Oregon driver’s license.

  • Forklift certification and CDL a plus.

Supervisory Responsibility and Key Relationships:

  • No supervisory responsibilities.

  • Reports to Retail Manager.

  • Full time hourly, non-exempt.
