Thanks to cool collaborations!

Collaboration is the theme of the day/month/year. Salvage Works, Boys Fort and Solabee Flowers and Botanicals have formalized their working partnership and now are sharing space and inspiration to bring new life to old objects. After moving into the Salvage Works space in April and spending a month or so working out the kinks, Boys’ Fort and Solabee are throwing open the doors and welcoming folks to a full tour of the work being made at what is becoming known as “The Fort.”

Boys Fort and Salvage Works are launching “Fort Made” – a collection of custom-made, one-of-a-kind furniture line at July’s Third Thursday celebration (see side column for more details). Tables, benches, bookshelves and more made from reclaimed barn lumber and farm implements will be available. Folks placing orders can pick their own implement to be incorporated! Designed by Boys’ Fort and fabricated by Salvage Works, this line incorporates the eclectic aesthetic of Boys’ Fort with the hand-made craftsmanship of Salvage Works to create a unique, modern look.

Solabee Botanicals‘ floral designs are showcased in rustic wall hangings built by Salvage Works that incorporate barn wood and vintage containers. Tobacco tins and vintage hand tools make a remarkably compatible backdrop to the completely contemporary botanical offerings of Solabee.

Please join us to celebrate Salvage Works 2-year anniversary and continued creative collaboration!

See the event page for details about the opening party on Thurs 7/19/12.

About the artist:
Evan Peterson hails from Newport Bay where he is actively involved with the Oregon Coast artistic community. He creates images on salvaged windows – kind of like tattooing on glass, everthing is in reverse…

He starts with detail & outlines first using with acrylics, sharpies and paint pens. Then Evan adds layer upon layer of colors – blended with his fingers, cloths and cotton to work together the paint.

The confetti backgrounds are made using dried paint flakes, adhered with epoxy and mediums. Painting on glass allows Evan to subtract painted areas with razor blades and cloths and “clean the canvas.”

p.s. They’re gorgeous!
